Within the framework of the “TSupport to the Türkiye-Italy Bilateral Cooperation on Cross-Mediterranean Irregular Migration Flows Project” conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior's Directorate of Migration Management, the International Organization for Migration, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, events were held at Ondokuz Mayıs University on March 9-10, 2026, with the participation of international students and academics. As part of the project, a workshop was held on March 9, 2026, with the participation of Afghan students studying at OMÜ, followed by an information meeting for all students at the university. On March 10, 2026, a workshop was held with faculty members, followed by an information meeting for academic and administrative staff.

During the events hosted by our university as part of the project, our International Relations Unit and International Student Coordination Office undertook the main responsibilities, including making necessary announcements, selecting participants, transporting students, communicating with relevant authorities, and coordinating with the Samsun Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.

Many international students from different countries participated in the workshops and information meetings held within the scope of the project. Important information was provided to our students and academic staff in these meetings, which covered a wide range of topics.
