“We have not forgotten the injustice done to the Meskhetian Turks”

Meskhetian students at OMU International Student Association commemorated the Meskhetian Turks who were forced into exile in 1944 with a ceremony held at the OMU Life Center on the 77th anniversary of the exile. At the event, which commemorates the Meskhetian Turks who were forced out of their lands, left stateless and forced into exile in an inhumane way on 14 November 1944, the event director Zarina Muhammed and Meskhetian students said “The reason why we are here is to inform you that we have not forgotten the injustice done to the Meskhetian Turks 77 years ago. Meskhetian Turks live in different countries of the world stateless and without personal rights. Under the leadership of the Republic of Turkey, we will always continue to exist in national and international channels. From here, we commemorate our elders who lost their lives during the exile. Also, we would like to express our thanks to Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, Head of International Relations Office Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunluoğlu who have provided us with full support and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet TÜTÜNCÜ at the Faculty of Agriculture, who has always been there for us. Meskhetian students, who opened a stand at OMU Life Center where materials containing the culture and history of Meskhetian Turks were exhibited, offered Lokma to those who visited the stand in memory of those who were exiled.
